Why are Fast Forward requests denied?

If your software provider supports the Fast Forward by sbtpg product, your clients may apply for Fast Forward if they meet the following requirements.

  • Expecting a federal tax refund up to $10,000
  • Paying for tax preparation with a participating pay-by-refund program from sbtpg
  • Receiving the federal tax refund via direct deposit

If these requirements are met, a client's request for Fast Forward may be denied for the following reasons.

  • The client's bank does not support RTP (real time payments) - participating banks can be found here
  • The client's bank rejected the Fast Forward payment
  • Insufficient notice of pending direct deposit

Fast Forward applications are only approved when we have advance notice of a pending direct deposit and can give taxpayers their federal refund 3+ days early.

Fast Forward fee waived for denied requests

If your client's Fast Forward request is denied, your client will be reimbursed the $25 Fast Forward fee.

Fast Forward by sbtpg is provided by Green Dot Bank. Terms and fees apply. To be eligible for Fast Forward, the taxpayer must have a Refund Transfer for a federal tax refund that is no more than $10,000 and have selected direct deposit or a Green Dot Bank-issued debit or prepaid card as the disbursement method for their refund proceeds. Availability may vary based on the taxpayer's bank participating in Real-Time Payments, IRS pre-notification of pending refund deposit, and availability of funds. $25.00 fee is not charged if the taxpayer is ineligible or if their refund is deposited to a new Green Dot Prepaid Visa Card disbursed through your office after 1/1/25. Check with transmitter for availability.
