Cashing TPG checks

Checks issued by Santa Barbara Tax Products Group (TPG) can be cashed at nearly 6,200 locations nationwide, by visiting participating Walmart and Wells Fargo Bank locations.

Walmart

Clients can cash their checks where they shop. It's fast and convenient with a maximum fee of $3 for checks up to $1,000 and a fee of $6 or less for checks greater than $1,000. Walmart will cash checks up to $7,500 ($2,000 in Florida and $2,500 in Connecticut). Service available first day of filing through Dec. 31st.

Check cashing not available in NY, NJ and RI. Check with store location for details and participation.

Wells Fargo Bank

Checks can be cashed at any Wells Fargo Bank location during the tax season, helping taxpayers in regions of the country that have more restrictive check cashing regulations. Service available first day of filing through April 30th.

  • Checks cashed up to $9,500 for one standard fee
  • Cost $10.00
  • Availability: Any U.S. Wells Fargo retail bank location

First National Bank Texas and First Convenience Bank

Free check cashing for checks up to $4,000. No account required.

Checks over $4,000 require a deposit to a First National Bank Texas/First Convenience Bank checking account, or receive a Mastercard gift card and the $2 card fee is waived from Jan. 1, 2019 - Mar. 31, 2019. 

Service available January 1, 2019 - March 31, 2019. 

TPG is not sponsored or endorsed by or otherwise affiliated with Wells Fargo Bank, N.A.. Checks may be cashed at Wells Fargo Bank branch locations. A check cashing fee will be charged to anyone cashing a check who does not have a Wells Fargo deposit account in accordance with Wells Fargo's standard fees for check cashing. The current fee for 2018 is $10 per check. Customer must obtain a Refund Transfer (separate fees apply).
